The four-year B.Ed. program requires students to specialize in one subject area as a major and another as a minor, chosen from options such as Nepali Education, English Education, Mathematics Education, and various others. This program, with an annual examination system, aims to prepare proficient teachers capable of teaching two subjects at the secondary level. In Nepal, around 500 private/community campuses offer the 4-year B.Ed. program under the affiliation of Tribhuvan University. Eligibility: Candidates who have completed 10+2 or equivalent examinations with a minimum 'D+' grade in all subjects of Grade 11 and 12 are eligible for enrollment in the B.Ed. program at Tribhuvan University. Alternatively, Candidates holding a Higher Secondary Education Examination Pass Certificate (HSEEPC) or Proficiency Certificate Level of Tribhuvan University (PCL), or an equivalent to HSE/Grade 12 pass, are also eligible for admission to the B.Ed. program. Additionally, they must meet specific requirements for admission to different major subject specialization areas, as detailed below: Nepali Education: HSE/Grade 12 pass or PCL with Nepali major containing at least 200 marks. English Education: HSE/Grade 12 pass or PCL with English or Linguistics major. HSE/Grade 12 pass or PCL with 50% marks in General English, or Candidates with HSE/Grade 12 pass or PCL must obtain 50% marks in the Entrance Examination conducted by the respective department of the campuses. Mathematics Education: HSE/Grade 12 pass or PCL with Mathematics major containing at least 200 marks. Science Education: HSE/Grade 12 pass or PCL with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology subjects with at least 100 full marks in each subject. Health and Physical Education: HSE/Grade 12 pass or PCL with Health & Physical Education, or HSE/Grade 12 pass or PCL with Science, Population, Home Science, or Nursing and any other subjects. Candidates without a background in health and physical education must pass the physical fitness related entrance test conducted by the respective department of the campuses. Candidates without physical disabilities are eligible for studying health and physical education. Population Education: HSE/Grade 12 pass or PCL with Population Studies, Geography, Economics, Health and Physical Education, Community Health, Science, Mathematics, Home Science, Civics, Social Service, Nursing, or Commerce. Geography Education, Economics Education, Political Science Education, and History Education: HSE/Grade 12 pass or PCL, or its equivalent, from any faculty. Except for the science education minor (Biology), minor subject areas are open to all students regardless of their previous study areas in Grade 11 and 12 or PCL. Only students majoring in physical science can select biology as a minor. Students are required to select minor subject areas different from their major subject areas.
